Impact of metabolic dysfunction on treatment responses to nucleos(t)ide analogues in chronic hepatitis B

A study of over 4,500 chronic hepatitis B patients found that having metabolic diseases (like diabetes or obesity) is associated with a lower biochemical and complete treatment response to nucleos(t)ide analogue drugs. The negative impact on treatment success was more pronounced with an increased number of metabolic diseases. This suggests that metabolic health is a critical factor in managing chronic hepatitis B.

Metabolic dysfunction is associated with liver disease, but it is unclear if it would impact responses to antiviral treatment in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. A study of over 4,500 chronic hepatitis B patients found that having metabolic diseases (like diabetes or obesity) is associated with a lower biochemical and complete treatment response to nucleos(t)ide analogue drugs.
