Mediterranean diet may not improve brain health in all aging populations

A new study suggests the Mediterranean diet intervention did not improve cognitive function in African Americans, contrary to previous findings. While participants showed clinically meaningful weight loss and enhanced dietary adherence, no cognitive benefits were observed within 14 months. Researchers believe longer-term interventions are needed to assess potential cognitive improvements in this demographic.

A new study says the opposite may be true for African Americans, finding that a long-term Mediterranean diet intervention did not help improve cognitive function.
