Natalizumab for multiple sclerosis
Natalizumab (NTZ) is the first monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of highly active relapsing‐remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS).
A review of five trials found that natalizumab significantly reduces relapses and disability progression in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) compared to a placebo. It also improves the quality of life and reduces MRI disease activity with a very slight increase in serious adverse events. For secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS), evidence suggests it may reduce relapses but not disability progression.
