Prostate safety events during testosterone replacement therapy in men with hypogonadism
The effect of testosterone replacement therapy on the risk of prostate cancer and other adverse prostate events is unknown.
A clinical trial of over 5,200 middle-aged and older men with hypogonadism found no significant difference between testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and placebo in the incidence of high-grade prostate cancer or other prostate-related events. The study, which excluded high-risk men, suggests that in carefully selected patients, TRT does not increase these prostate risks.
