• Immunisation against infection caused by H. influenzae type b

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of its excipients
• History of hypersensitivity after previous administration of Hib vaccines

Cautions

• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding
• Elderly
• Thrombocytopaenia
• History of Guillain-Barre syndrome
• Congenital or acquired immunodeficiency
• Premature infants

Not indicated for use in adult patients

Immunisation against infection caused by H. influenzae type b (HIB)

• IM: 0.5ml, as a single dose, given at 6-, 10- and 14 weeks of age; Booster to be given in second year of life

Haemophilus influenzae type b (HIB) vaccine stimulates production of anticapsular antibodies and provides active immunity to HIB. Vaccination provides protective antibodies in >95% of infants who are vaccinated with a 2- or 3-dose series.
