Mechanism of action

Lincomycin inhibits protein synthesis by specifically binding on the 50S subunit and affecting the process of peptide chain initiation. It has been shown to be effective against most of the common gram-positive pathogens. Depending on the sensitivity of the organism and concentration of the antibiotic, it may be either bactericidal or bacteriostatic.

Spectrum of activity: Gram positive, aerobic cocci (excluding S. faecalis)
