Identifying and Referral of Potential Organ Donors

Donor Candidates:

• Standard Criteria: Young with preserved organ function. Low risk 
• Extended Criteria: Any age, co-morbidities allowed, degree of organ dysfunction allowed, treatable infections allowed (e.g. HIV positive donor organs are allocated to HIV positive recipients) 
• Any doubt about whether a donor is suitable contact transplant coordinator on call who will be only too pleased to offer advice.
