Triage Sieve
- Initially on scene or where large numbers of patients are delivered to hospital at once it may be necessary to implement the Triage Sieve.
- This is a crude tool which aims to rapidly identify those who are most in need of medical attention.
- Like most other triage tools, the Triage Sieve is best performed by those with the least knowledge.
- It can be performed rapidly and other than triage cards, does not require other equipment.

Triage Sort
- The Triage Sort is a more clinical tool.
- It requires equipment and some medical knowledge.
- This is used after initial sieve or when resources allow for a more accurate triage.
