DESCRIPTION

• A demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, characterised by relapsing and remitting episodes of unifocal or multifocal neurological dysfunction. 
• Diagnosis is confirmed by imaging. 
• The CSF may show oligoclonal bands and raised IgG index. 
• Recovery between acute flares of illness is common, although a general stepwise deterioration from baseline is usually found.

GENERAL MEASURES

• Consult with neurologist for diagnosis and treatment.

REFERRAL

• All patients.
