Webinar speaker: Dr Anita Lai
|
|
|
Dr Anita Pui Ching Lai is a highly accomplished medical professional specialising in Rheumatology. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) in April 2008 and her Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine in October 2016, both from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Dr Lai further specialised by obtaining her Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa (FCP(SA)) in May 2015 and a Certificate in the sub-speciality Rheumatology of the College of Physicians of South Africa (Cert Rheum (SA)) in May 2018.
Her extensive employment history includes an internship and community service at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, followed by a Registrar position in Internal Medicine. She completed her Rheumatology fellowship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and currently practices as a Rheumatologist at Netcare Waterfall City Hospital and as a Sessional Rheumatologist at Helen Joseph Academic Hospital.
Dr Lai has been actively involved in academic contributions, including being a member of the post-graduate committee, a PBL facilitator for medical students, and an organising committee member for the Hands on Rheumatology Conference in 2014, 2016, and 2018. She has presented at national conferences such as the Hands On Rheumatology Conference, SARAA conference, and Clinical Practice Guideline Meeting. Dr Lai is also an author for publications, including the SARAA 2024 guidelines for the management of peripheral Spondyloarthritis (SpA).
