Quick overview of the webinar content:

Join us for an insightful CPD-accredited webinar featuring Dr David Benn, a dedicated child and adult psychiatrist, as he shares practical, evidence-based strategies to optimise the management of ADHD, mood disorders, and pediatric mental health in everyday clinical care.

In this webinar, Dr David Benn will focus on:

  • A brief overview of the AD/HD diagnosis including executive dysfunctions.

  • The evidence for efficacy of both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for ADHD. The emphasis will be on Metanalyses.

  • The various forms of evidence available – scientific and anecdotal, the strengths and weaknesses of both.

  • This will link into patient accounts of their subjective experiences with ADHD and, in particular, responses to pharmacological interventions. This will include a few brief case vignettes. In some of these I will attempt to relate back to executive dysfunction.

  • Long-term use of stimulant and non-stimulant medications.

Dr David Benn will follow his talk with a live interactive Q&A session where you can pose your questions to an expert on this topic.

1 CPD Point Accredited. Attendance is free!

Speaker's Biography:

Webinar speaker: Dr David Benn

Dr David Benn is a dedicated Psychiatrist based in Johannesburg with over three decades of experience specializing in child and adolescent mental health. A "kid from Vereeniging" who defied early academic skepticism, Dr Benn graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1979 and later earned his Master of Medicine in Psychiatry in 1989. His pioneering research into Major Depression in children was among the first to formally document the condition in Black South African children.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Benn has balanced clinical excellence with academic contribution. After serving as Head of the General Psychiatry Unit at Helen Joseph Hospital, he entered private practice in 1989. In 1999, he established the ADDNOVA Centre, a multidisciplinary facility designed to provide holistic care for ADHD and associated disorders. His clinical expertise spans ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, and Tic disorders, and he continues to consult with adults—particularly those navigating adult ADHD and Autism Spectrum disorders.
