Hi {{firstName}},

Thank you for registering to attend {{webinarTitle}} on {{startDate}} at {{startTime}}.

Quick overview of the webinar content:

Join us for an insightful webinar with the esteemed Dr Nokukhanya Khanyile, a renowned Paediatrician, as she examines the impact of C-sections on newborns and the essential nutrition needed to support their health and development.

Rising C-section rates globally, especially in South Africa, are prompting research into their impact on infant health. C-sections can disrupt a baby's initial gut microbiota colonisation, which is crucial for immunity. Vaginal births typically expose infants to beneficial bacteria, particularly Bifidobacterium, which are key for healthy gut development. C-section babies miss this exposure, potentially leading to a higher risk of immunity-related issues like infections, allergies, and asthma. While breastmilk is ideal for supporting gut microbiota, challenges with breastfeeding post-C-section are common. Dr Nokukhanya Khanyile highlights the potential of specific synbiotics, inspired by human milk, to help restore gut microbiota in C-section babies when breastfeeding isn't possible.

Attendance is free and you will earn 1 Clinical CPD-point for attending.
