During this webinar, Klee will focus on the following:
Financial Literacy & Practice Cash Flow – distinguishing between practice turnover and actual cash flow and why strong billing does not always equal financial stability; identifying key cash flow pressures including medical aid cycles, billing delays, and seasonal impacts; and applying basic cash flow forecasting with appropriate operating expense buffers. Revenue Cycle, Debtors & Bad Debt Management – analysing debtor ageing (30-, 60-, 90-day) to prioritise collections; recognising the causes and impact of stale claims, short payments, and patient liabilities; and evaluating bad debt levels against industry benchmarks. Practice Financial Controls & Operational Discipline – using a financial dashboard to monitor key practice “vitals”; and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly financial control checks to improve decision-making. Risk Management & Financial Resilience – identifying key financial and operational risks including income dependency and liquidity risk; and managing funding structures, liquidity buffers, and tax-related cash flow pressures. Integrating Practice Finances with Personal Financial Planning – separating practice finances from personal wealth planning; and aligning structured financial planning with long-term practice sustainability.
After his talk, Klee will then be joined by Coenie Smith, Head of Specialised Segments and New Business Acquisition at Nedbank, for a dynamic panel discussion. Hein Klee is a financial services professional with 30 years of experience in private banking, wealth management, and investment consulting. He is currently the Executive Head of Nedbank Financial Planning and a Director of Nedgroup Financial Advisor, also holding Key Individual designations. His expertise includes wealth management, financial planning, asset allocation, and investment consulting for various organisations.
Since June 2024, he has been the Executive WMSA at Nedbank Financial Planning, overseeing distribution, client acquisition, and financial planning offerings. From 2020 to 2024, he was Executive WMSA International at Nedbank, focusing on stakeholder engagement and strategy. He is also a Manco member at Old Mutual Superfund and chairs the Old Mutual Superfund Participating Employer Nedbank Manco Committee.
Earlier roles include Executive Head of Investment Consulting and Solutions at NMG Consultants and Actuaries (2014-2020), leading South African operations at Sanlam Global Solutions (2010-2014), and management positions at Warwick Private Wealth, Crosby Asset Management, and Fidelity International. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago (via UOFS), RE1, RE3, and RE5 certifications, and completed executive programs at Harvard Business School and MIT.
