Prescribing points

Sodium chloride nasal spray is available in a number of preparations. The doses given are average doses of sodium chloride spray. Consult product information for specific doses.

Mechanism of action

Saline nasal spray is a saltwater solution used to treat mild congestion. It acts by loosening mucus and preventing crust formation. It decreases swelling by rinsing out allergens that cause irritation and swelling in the nose.
